THE bodies of two sisters, aged 12 and 16 were found in a plantation forest in Mgojweni Location Nqadu Village in Willowvale.
Siyamthanda Koli, 12 and her sister, Cordelia Koli, 16, had attended Umgidi (a traditional ceremony held when a boy comes back from the bush) on Monday (December,1) evening at the village. They left to go home at about 2am on Tuesday morning (December, 2).
Their bodies were found by a man walking past the plantation forest at 6am on Tuesday morning (December, 2).
It is suspected that the two girls were raped and then murdered.
Their cellphones were also missing.
Willowvale Police detectives worked around the clock and their hard work resulted to the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect during the day on Tuesday (December,2).
The suspect will be charged with two counts of rape, two counts of murder and two counts of robbery.
The suspect is due to appear before the Willowvale Magistrate Court on Friday (December, 4). tomorrow.
Butterworth Cluster Commander Brigadier Stanley Sibhidla praised Willowvale Police detectives for their swift actions which resulted to the arrest of the suspect. He condemned rape and murder of “defenceless young girls”.
