THREE former Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) project coordinators in Nelson Mandela Bay claim the city owes them almost R180 000 for three months’ salaries.

The project coordinators signed nine-month contracts with the city in November 2013 ending in July last year at a monthly salary of R19 624.

They recruited 900 EPWP workers in 12 wards to get the environmental project off the ground.

They reported to the office of the chief operating officer (COO).

But they claim the metro breached the contract by not paying them for May, June and July, despite them working for the three months.

They were hired as part of the metro’s plans to beautify and clean the city using EPWP workers.
