THERE was no shortage of drama at the first IsiXhosa Music Festival at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
The VIP marquee was dismantled after it collapsed with a beam falling on a spectator, who had to be rushed to hospital for treatment.
And, after waiting more than 10 hours for Zonke Dikana to sing, revellers went home disappointed when she failed to perform.
Dikana’s attorney, Bongani Khoza, said the singer arrived at the stadium at midnight, which was her scheduled time slot, but another musician was still performing.
“After waiting for an hour and 40 minutes, a decision was taken in the interests of our client’s safety for her not to take to the stage for an extremely short performance that may have led to the crowd being agitated.”
