A 39-YEAR-OLD Eastern Cape man appeared in court today after allegedly shooting his mother earlier this week.
Melikhaya Pamla briefly appeared before the Dutywa Magistrate’s Court this morning. He was not asked to plead and his case was remanded to Wednesday December 23 2015 for bail consideration.
Pamla had allegedly arrived home from Cape Town on the evening of the shooting. According to police he allegedly shot his mother, 65-year-old Ntombizanele Pamla, in the upper body on December 16 shortly after midnight. She died in her bed.
Melikhaya was arrested by Dutywa Police and a licensed pistol was recovered from him.
The motive for the murder remains unclear. He remained in police custody.
