PORT Elizabeth surfer Josh Enslin will again test his mental toughness and agility as he aims to become the first South African to hold three world records simultaneously.
Enslin, 30, will attempt the record for the fastest speed for a surfboard being towed by a car, which is held by Australian professional surfer and seven-time world champion Layne Beachley.
The record stands at 78km/h, set at the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith, on March 21 2011.
Enslin said: “My attempt will be speed orientated.
“I decided to attempt this record because I already have a record for longest surfing session and the most waves caught in a single session.
“To my amazement, I found that there was a record for speed in surfing.”
Enslin is aiming for between 120km/h and 150km/h. The date for the attempt is set for July 12 at the Coega Harbour. However, two or three back-up venues have been named, should things not go according to plan.
