A PORT Elizabeth surfer plans to smash the Guinness world record for the longest surfing marathon later this year.
Josh Enslin, 30, hopes to surf for more than 29 hours 27 minutes in November at Pollok Beach.
He will need to catch a wave every five minutes in order for his attempt to be valid. The record is held by American surfer Ben Shaw. But Enslin plans to beat it by a “big margin”.
The attempt will require Enslin, a Cyoh Surf Club member, to catch about 400 waves to topple Shaw’s record.
“I will be doing a lot of water training, but the biggest thing would be getting mentally strong for the challenge,” Enslin said.
