MARTIN Stevens, accused of attempting to murder his estranged wife by stabbing her seven times, appeared briefly in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Stevens, 47, of Algoa Park, allegedly stabbed Anna-Marie Stevens, 43, outside her friend’s flat in Sydenham, leaving her for dead. He was arrested in October, having been on the run for five days.
Anna-Marie had filed for divorce three months prior to the alleged attack, claiming Stevens was abusive.
Stevens’s attorney said the case was postponed to March 7 for him to undergo psychological evaluation.
Stevens killed his ex-wife, Hettie, and her friend, Colin, Rosslee before shooting himself in 2000. He survived and was acquitted on the grounds of suffering a psychotic episode. He is in custody.
