Visitor wakes to find intruder eating banana before making off with belongings
GUEST house owners have appealed to police to intensify efforts to find the culprits in a spate of attacks at hospitality establishments across Port Elizabeth. A Brazilian businesswoman visiting Port Elizabeth, who woke up in the early hours of Saturday to find a brazen robber calmly sitting in her bedroom eating a banana, was the latest victim of the scourge.
This followed a string of burglaries at guest houses and bed-and breakfast establishments in Summerstrand, Walmer, Central and Humewood recently.
Police suspect that two men who burgled the Summerstrand guest house are part of a group that have broken into about 15 guest houses in Port Elizabeth in the past month alone.
The 48-year-old foreigner, who police and the guest house owner declined to name, lives in Pretoria.
