The Western Cape on Thursday boasted that Cape Town International Airport was named Africa’s best at the SkyTrax World Airport Awards.
At the awards‚ hosted in Germany on Wednesday night‚ “the staff at Cape Town International Airport was named as Best Airport Staff in Africa”‚ a statement from the office of provincial minister of economic opportunities‚ Alan Winde‚ said.
“Cape Town International Airport is consistently ranked as one of the best in the world‚” said Winde.
“As one of the first-touch points visitors have when they reach our region‚ the airport team makes sure tourists feel welcome here.
“These awards speak to the high standard of service the Western Cape is internationally known for.”
The statement said the “the awards are based on surveys from over 13-million passengers across the world” which “took place June 2015 to February 2016”.
Two other South African airports filled up the top three in the awards.
