ONE man died on Friday morning when his microlight aircraft crashed into a sugarcane field on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast.
KZN emergency services spokesman Robert McKenzie said the cause of the accident – which occurred in the Glendale area – was unknown.
“Paramedics from the Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services responded to a sugar estate in the Glendale area‚ where the aircraft had crashed. On assessment they found that a man aged about 60 had sadly sustained fatal injuries‚” said McKenzie.
The man’s identity has not been released.
