The son of murdered broadcast media personality Hope Zinde is expected to make a brief appearance in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Friday (17/06/16).
Mark Warona Zinde’s appearance will come a day after his family held a memorial service for his mother.
He made an appearance in the same court earlier this week during which the state said he had been charged with murder and the possession of drugs.
On Monday‚ Magistrate Moses Maswanganyi postponed the case to Friday at the request of the prosecution and the suspect’s lawyer‚ MD Molusi.
Zinde’s body was reportedly found in the boot of her car at Pecanwood‚ an upmarket housing estate in Hartbeespoort.
A family friend got worried when he had failed to reach Zinde‚ 50‚ on her phone since Wednesday.
The friend alerted the estate’s security and the police when Mark allegedly refused to allow him into the house. Zinde was working for the Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa) at the time of her death.
A TV and radio journalist at the SABC from 1991 to 2006‚ she was appointed to the public broadcaster’s board in 2013.
Communications Minister Faith Muthambi fired her along with colleagues Rachel Kalidass and Ronnie Lubisi — apparently because they did not support Hlaudi Motsoeneng’s appointment as chief operations officer.
