Electronic goods stolen recovered in a street drain after a robbery at a Newton Park shop

Stolen cellphones and electronic equipment worth about R65 000 was found stashed in a street drain on Friday morning (17/06/16).

This, just hours after police arrested two men who burgled a cellular shop in Alma Street, Newton Park.

Police spotted the two – aged 29 and 36 years – running down the road at about 3.30am, shortly after they allegedly broke into the shop.
