An investigation into the illegal sale of RDP houses in Missionvale is under way.
Municipal human settlements executive director Mandla George announced this at a residents’ feedback meeting on Thursday.
George said he and deputy mayor Bicks Ndoni had met residents to give feedback following a number of service delivery protests.
“There are over 2 000 houses built in the area without connections to services,” he said.
“We have established a steering committee led by Ndoni from the political side and myself on the administrative side.
“We also included community leaders and we had to look at the absence of services, bulk infrastructure, allocation of houses to wrong beneficiaries, wrong approval of beneficiaries and the illegal sale and renting of houses.”
He said the various issues had been brought to the council’s attention earlier this year.
