Three suspected Gauteng drug dealers posing as gate installers were arrested in Uitenhage after police found mandrax tablets worth almost R1-million hidden in their bakkie.
The bust – in which police confiscated about 15200 mandrax tablets worth R912 000 – came after a tip-off.
The men were travelling from the Johannesburg area to Port Elizabeth.
According to the Hawks, the suspects, aged 33, 34 and 51, are expected to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
In recent months Eastern Cape police have made several busts, confiscating drugs being transported in long haul taxis, buses and trucks.
