PATERSON police are searching for five men who stormed a local supermarket this morning before robbing customers and ransacking the shop.
The five men, two armed with firearms and the other three with knives, held the shop owner and several customers hostage while demanding money and cellphones from customers and the shop owner.
Police spokesman Captain Mali Govender said the men fled in a white Isuzu bakkie belonging to one of the customers.
The bakkie was found abandoned on the N10 outside Paterson a short while later.
No one was injured during the robbery.
