TEACHERS were full of praise yesterday for the Eastern Cape Department of Education following a training programme aimed at upskilling their teaching in maths and science.
Sixty teachers from the Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage, Kirkwood, Somerset East and Graaff-Reinet areas were recognised yesterday for completing the 16-day intensive training programme.
The department invited maths and science teachers from 464 under-performing schools in the province.
The programme was coordinated by the Govan Mbeki Mathematics Development Unit at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
The teachers received their certificates after completing the programme at NMMU’s north campus auditorium.
