ALL eyes will again be on murder accused Christopher Panayiotou today as he takes to the dock in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court for a mandatory court appearance.
The matter will again be postponed to allow the state time to wrap up its investigation before transferring the case to the high court, where it will be set down for trial next year.
This time Panayiotou, 28, will appear alongside alleged hitman Sizwezakhe Vumazonke only, after the murder charge was this week withdrawn against alleged middleman Thando Siyoli.
This comes after the state announced that he was a Section 204 witness. This means that Siyoli will testify for the state in exchange for immunity from prosecution.
All charges against him were formally withdrawn on Tuesday.
Panayiotou is accused of orchestrating his wife Jayde’s abduction and murder along with Vumazonke, 30.
The state claims Siyoli, 31, a bouncer at Panayiotou’s night club, was the middleman.
