Transport committee members slam director Shaidi’s proposed organogram

NELSON Mandela Bay infrastructure and engineering executive director Walter Shaidi was taken to task yesterday by councillors for doing a half-baked job in creating a staff organogram for one of his departments.

Councillors on the transport committee lambasted Shaidi for only catering for the Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS) in the department’s proposed staff structure.

They tasked Shaidi with presenting an inclusive organogram also including roads when the committee meets again.

The organogram makes provision for 21 positions to specifically deal with the IPTS, among them a project manager, a taxi operations specialist, a legal adviser and a marketing and communications officer.

Committee chairwoman Babalwa Lobishe said: “Even though the item is for noting, I don’t think you [Shaidi] have done justice to the organogram.

“IPTS must not be addressed alone. There is a transport component in your division. When is it going to be combined with this? Because I would assume that when it comes to our committee, it must be a combined organogram.”
