A 39-year-old Cradock man was arrested yesterday morning for allegedly kicking his girlfriend to death during a “heated argument” inside their house.
Police spokesman Captain Stefanie Smith said the incident happened at 11:30am in Derrick Street in Cradock.
“At this stage it is believed that both the suspect and the deceased were intoxicated at the time of the incident. The deceased was kicked in the head which in turn led to her death,” she said.
“The deceased passed away shortly after the incident. The suspect was arrested and is being detained for further questioning and investigation.”
The name of the deceased cannot be released at this stage as the next of kin still needs to be notified of her death.
The suspect is due to appear in the Cradock Magistrates Court on Friday for murder. - Gareth Wilson
